Starting an EAQ Approved Equine Assisted Learning Centre EAQ Equine Assisted Learning Centres operate under licence and are able to take advantage of the business and marketing expertise that we have developed by opening centres around the UK and in Australia. If you are interested in starting your own equine assisted learning centre then you too could benefit from having the backing of an organisation with a proven track record and experience in this field. EAQ are able to provide you with: - advice and guidance on setting up and running an equine assisted learning business - consultation about premises and staffing - training in risk assessment and health and safety issues - reductions in insurance premiums - facilitator training for staff - horsemanship certificate programmes - the EAQ manual for delivery of experiential equine assisted learning - access to support, information and guidance about equine assisted learning and qualifications - resources such as schemes of work, lesson plans and handouts - access to nationally recognised qualifications for your own learners (UK only at present) through our links with the National Open College Network (NOCN) - a network of practitioners with whom to discuss your work - supervision and on-going in-service training EAQ Approved Centres range from a simple field with a few ponies to more complex centres which provide residential courses and additional activities such as family or trauma counselling, energy healing and complimentary therapies. Joining the EAQ Network You need to meet a range of criteria before you will be eligible to apply to join the EAQ Network of Equine Assisted Learning Centres. This includes: - having achieved your EAQ Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator Certificate
- having achieved your Horse Handling for Facilitators Certificate or Silversand Horsemanship Skills (or equivalent).
- having a Criminal Records Bureau check
- having Public Liability Insurance
- holding a First Aid Certificate
- completing a risk assessment for your premises
If you wish to offer qualifications to your own learners there are additional requirments which you will need to meet to make sure that you comply with the awarding body requirements for assessment and verification. This may involve additonal training for which there may be an additional cost.
